Back to an office

But only for 3 days.

Yesterday when i was about to leave for swimming class i remembered i had left my phone upstairs all day. So i went, picked it up and realized i had missed 8 calls, 5 of them from the same person: my ex-boss at that job i quit back in May. I called back while driving because it was already late for my class (i did use the freehands thing)  and he said he needed my help. Apparently one of the companies i had been in charge of hasn’t been updated since i left and it’s time for companies to present their annual inform to the taxes people. On Monday!

People who know me also know I can’t say no. So well, I’m going to be very, very busy these 3 days. Somehow I gotta do in 3 days what they were supossed to do in 7 months. Eh, that amazing? not even me :p

I went swimming and when back to the car i saw another missed phone call from the ex-boss. While driving back i got a call again and he said “Ivette, I’m just calling you to let you know I will be able to sleep today because you said yes”. And just for that it was worth not being able to say no.

Now I gotta talk to my actual boss, see if we don’t have something so urgent so i can leave to the office…

The good weeks

Years ago, when Dad was alive, we used to go camping every year this time of the year. A mountain here, a river there, a hidden gorgeous beach, anywhere Dad found interesting, always for 7 days, the “good” week. In the first years that I remember camping, there was no electricity, no running water, and no any of this modern life things we don’t seem to be able to live without.

Setting up the tents was fun, and to be honest i would never get it right the first time. I always had a tent for myself, being the only girl, therefor i had to set it up myself. I remember deciding a few years i would sleep in the back of the pickup truck, it made me hate mosquitoes, but i have to admit the sky was always spectacular.

I made some good friends, because for around 10 years we always went to the same place to camp. There was a huge family every year there as well and they had kids, many kids. I would never see them or get in touch with them throughout the year, but when the camping trip was over, we knew we would see each other next year.

And then, there was a year when we didn’t go back. Not there, not to camp anywhere. And this week, every year, is different since then. We go on vacation together, or on our own, or simply stay home, and someone always remembers, or maybe someone dares to mention it because I’m sure we all remember, and while all those weeks were definitely of the best weeks, and we laugh while remembering, it hurts not to have them anymore, and i know we could have them, but they just wouldn’t be what they were, simply because we are 4 instead of 6.

Here’s a pic, I think we were in a beach in the northwest of the country. I believe this tent was the food tent.

Camping

From right to left: a girl who used to take care of us, a friend, Rafa (my brother who is not with us anymore), Dad, me (and i’m betting those were not my sandals, i would always forget or lose my sandals), Oscar (my brother) and the huge cheeks belonged (in the past because he lost tons of weight) to my cousin Miguel (who used to go on vacation with us quite often).

Wireless internet in the city park

There’s many times I hear how a city square or some public place in some big city gets wireless internet and I used to think we would never have that.

Well, see, the same government that gave me a computer due to my very good grades, has provided our park (around 6 hectares, which would be about 14.83 acres) with wireless internet, how cool is that? Specially since around the park there are a few schools.

I’m really thinking my visits to the park will be more than once every 3 months from now on.

Project: Organizing the study/workspace

Inspired by Unclutterer’s “Creating a minimalist workspace”, I’ve decided to organize our study/workspace (our being my little brother’s and mine).

We sold our house, moved to a renting house and will be here until end of April, when we finish building our new house. So, meanwhile, we have to share this space for the purpose of our study/workspace. I don’t mind, it’s big and we usually are here during different times of the day.

So here’s the before: flickr - before: study/workspace (please forgive the quality of the pictures, they were taken with my cellphone, which is not so good).

Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be done and have the after, hopefully too my bro will let me borrow his cellphone for the pics. Wish me luck :)

Back and with a new look

hey! It’s been ages, I know. I can’t believe how time is flying.

I’ve been working a lot with wordpress (which I love) and themes and what it takes to modify or implement. While doing so I came across EvanEckard’s amazing designs, and his Gotham Nights wordpress theme, and couldn’t help remembering I had a blog and wanting to use his theme.

I’ve added a page, different content in the sidebar tabs, rewrote the about page, and you know, things like justifying the text. I believe everything is working very well.

All I was missing was a new post, Leo has been pushing me to write some, so with this new look my blog is back,  and one of my goals is to update it more often. Maybe saying it out loud will help me achieve it.
