Or not that extreme, but still a makeover.

Monday, last week, I went to the stylist for a haircut. I’ve known him for about 10 years, lost track of him and found him again about 2 months ago. What I didn’t think is that I would end up with different hair colors and so many layers in my hair.

But things didn’t end there. I don’t know if you know that I don’t wear make up on a regular basis, so if you have never been to a party with me you would most likely say that I never wear make up. My stylist says so.

He managed to convince me of some sort of makeover, that is going to take place on Thursday. He already got my picture on Monday and apparently there will be more pictures involved.

I have no idea how he convinced me of the makeover thing but more importantly, how he managed to talk me into having my picture taken, at least twice!

I obviously won’t be showing you the pictures, haha, but i will let you know if i like what he did.

Maybe change is good? :)

Ahora, resulta que el nombre de mi blog es “Re” y pues realmente no dice nada de mí hasta como en la página mil ocho mil, entonces decidí buscar Ivette01 y encontré 1,170. (Now, my blog’s name is “Re” and google doesn’t really say much about me until page number, well I can’t really tell, there are so many pages, so I decided to look for Ivette01 and i found 1,170 results).

No tantos como Carlos Leopoldo, pero lo que me asusta un poquito es que la mayoría de esos resultados si son cosas que yo he dicho! Supongo que en estos tiempos existe la obligación de pensar bien lo que se va a decir en internet… (Not as many as Carlos Leopoldo, but what actually scares me a little bit is that most of those results are things I’ve actually said! I suppose nowadays one should really think before typing anything on the internet…)

Oh! Tal vez sea tiempo de empezar un blog en español… aunque por otro lado, es rara la vez que actualizo (Oh! It might be time to start a blog in spanish… on the other hand, i rarely update)

(I wouldn’t try learning spanish or english from my translations :p)

Those are the words i often use to describe my mum. The past few years have been difficult and I’m very sure there were days she just had no idea how she was going to keep things going, but there was always everything we needed to be ok, and we are ok. We have mum to thank for that.

We sold our house in February, it was a very big house in a very nice place but we needed to sell. We have been renting a house and our new house is being built. It’s almost done, i believe we will be moving by the end of this month. Our new house is still in a nice place, and eventho it’s smaller, my little bro gets his own room, instead of sharing with my other brother. He has mum to thank for that.

One sunday not long ago we woke up to find no furniture downstairs, except for the computers and desks. One day my mum woke up and decided to have an open house, she sold in less than 3 hours all of our furniture, clothes, dishes, and everything we had decided we didn’t want anymore when moving. That same day we went shopping for new living and dining rooms furniture. We love the new furniture and we have mum to thank for it.

I work doing something i love and eventhough it was hard in the beginning, guess who was always supporting and there for me?

I could go on and on and i just wouldn’t finish writing examples of how amazing my mum is. We have everything to thank her for, and she has never ever asked for anything in return.

My brother keeps saying i’m getting old and should have a kid (how he dares i have no idea! :p). I don’t really think of that often, but when i stop to realize how absolutely amazing my mum is, a little part of me wishes one day i get to feel that selfless love…

As I’ve mentioned before, I go swimming everyday, well except Saturdays and Sundays. I’d swum in the first lane (which is for beginners) until last Monday. I had been asked before by my trainers to move to the second lane but I had asked them to let me stay in the first lane since i really didn’t feel ready for the second; they had agreed because there weren’t so many people.

This all changed on Monday, when daylight savings kicked in and so many people felt the desire to go swim. My trainer said i had to go to the second lane, that i was ready, that i would be fine and most importantly it was time to push myself harder. Everyone that sees me says congratulations, because it’s all by levels, so being in the 2nd lane means you can swim better than you did in first lane. There are 4 lanes by levels and the 5th one is for people working to fix some injures or stuff like that.

I’ve felt a lot of pressure, of course everyone there swims better and faster than i do, so it’s kind of weird. Hopefully i’ll get used to it and won’t quit. There’s a bonus though, very hot guy in the 2nd lane and he keeps telling me i can do it. lol :p

But only for 3 days.

Yesterday when i was about to leave for swimming class i remembered i had left my phone upstairs all day. So i went, picked it up and realized i had missed 8 calls, 5 of them from the same person: my ex-boss at that job i quit back in May. I called back while driving because it was already late for my class (i did use the freehands thing) and he said he needed my help. Apparently one of the companies i had been in charge of hasn’t been updated since i left and it’s time for companies to present their annual inform to the taxes people. On Monday!

People who know me also know I can’t say no. So well, I’m going to be very, very busy these 3 days. Somehow I gotta do in 3 days what they were supossed to do in 7 months. Eh, that amazing? not even me :p

I went swimming and when back to the car i saw another missed phone call from the ex-boss. While driving back i got a call again and he said “Ivette, I’m just calling you to let you know I will be able to sleep today because you said yes”. And just for that it was worth not being able to say no.

Now I gotta talk to my actual boss, see if we don’t have something so urgent so i can leave to the office…

Years ago, when Dad was alive, we used to go camping every year this time of the year. A mountain here, a river there, a hidden gorgeous beach, anywhere Dad found interesting, always for 7 days, the “good” week. In the first years that I remember camping, there was no electricity, no running water, and no any of this modern life things we don’t seem to be able to live without.

Setting up the tents was fun, and to be honest i would never get it right the first time. I always had a tent for myself, being the only girl, therefor i had to set it up myself. I remember deciding a few years i would sleep in the back of the pickup truck, it made me hate mosquitoes, but i have to admit the sky was always spectacular.

I made some good friends, because for around 10 years we always went to the same place to camp. There was a huge family every year there as well and they had kids, many kids. I would never see them or get in touch with them throughout the year, but when the camping trip was over, we knew we would see each other next year.

And then, there was a year when we didn’t go back. Not there, not to camp anywhere. And this week, every year, is different since then. We go on vacation together, or on our own, or simply stay home, and someone always remembers, or maybe someone dares to mention it because I’m sure we all remember, and while all those weeks were definitely of the best weeks, and we laugh while remembering, it hurts not to have them anymore, and i know we could have them, but they just wouldn’t be what they were, simply because we are 4 instead of 6.

Here’s a pic, I think we were in a beach in the northwest of the country. I believe this tent was the food tent.

From right to left: a girl who used to take care of us, a friend, Rafa (my brother who is not with us anymore), Dad, me (and i’m betting those were not my sandals, i would always forget or lose my sandals), Oscar (my brother) and the huge cheeks belonged (in the past because he lost tons of weight) to my cousin Miguel (who used to go on vacation with us quite often).

Well, see, the same government that gave me a computer due to my very good grades, has provided our park (around 6 hectares, which would be about 14.83 acres) with wireless internet, how cool is that? Specially since around the park there are a few schools.

I’m really thinking my visits to the park will be more than once every 3 months from now on.

Inspired by Unclutterer’s “Creating a minimalist workspace”, I’ve decided to organize our study/workspace (our being my little brother’s and mine).

We sold our house, moved to a renting house and will be here until end of April, when we finish building our new house. So, meanwhile, we have to share this space for the purpose of our study/workspace. I don’t mind, it’s big and we usually are here during different times of the day.

So here’s the before: flickr - before: study/workspace (please forgive the quality of the pictures, they were taken with my cellphone, which is not so good).

Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be done and have the after, hopefully too my bro will let me borrow his cellphone for the pics. Wish me luck :)
